Where 8.5 mil sits

Pick the gauge, not the guess

Thickness is the single decision that drives cost, dexterity and how long a glove survives the task. Here is the full TruGlove range — tap any gauge to compare.

Built for the work

When nothing thinner will do

01

Maximum protection

The thickest gauge in the line — the best puncture, abrasion and tear resistance TruGlove makes for the harshest, sharpest, dirtiest work.

02

Extended cuff

A longer cuff reaches over the wrist and onto the forearm, so splash, run-off and drips do not track down the arm. Tuck it over or under a sleeve.

03

Grip for wet work

A textured finish holds on wet, oily and soapy surfaces — the reason it earns its place on parts-wash and wash-down stations.

04

Powder-free, latex-free

No cornstarch residue and no natural-rubber proteins — safe to standardize across a mixed crew on heavy-duty tasks.

Product detail

Heavy protection that covers the forearm

When the work is wet as well as heavy, a standard cuff is not enough. At 8.5 mil the blue extended-cuff nitrile pairs a full wall of synthetic nitrile with a longer cuff that reaches onto the forearm — so degreaser, wash water and chemical splash stay off the skin instead of running down the arm. It is the glove crews reach for at the parts washer and the wash-down station.

It is fully synthetic, so there is no natural rubber latex and no Type I allergy exposure, and it is powder-free for clean handling. The textured finish sheds oil, coolant and water to hold grip on wet metal and slick parts where a smooth glove would slip, and the extended cuff gives forearm coverage a standard beaded cuff cannot.

Where it performs

Parts washing and degreasing, chemical transfer and decanting, industrial sanitation and wash-down, plumbing and drain service, agriculture and veterinary work, and heavy janitorial. It stands up to abrasive surfaces and common shop chemistry — solvents, degreasers, fuels and oils — for the splash and immersion-adjacent contact these jobs bring.

For extended chemical immersion or a rated hazard, confirm the breakthrough data for your chemistry and use a reusable chemical-resistant glove. Need maximum grip on dry, heavy parts and a high-visibility color instead of forearm coverage? See the 8.5 mil orange heavy-duty diamond-grip. For lighter, higher-dexterity everyday work, drop to the 6.5 mil or 5.5 mil.

Questions

Before you order

How thick is an 8.5 mil nitrile glove, really?
A mil is one thousandth of an inch, so 8.5 mil is roughly 0.22 mm at the palm — the thickest disposable gauge TruGlove makes. For reference, an exam glove runs about 4 mil and an everyday shop glove 5.5 to 6.5 mil. The 8.5 mil is built for maximum protection.
What does the extended cuff do?
The cuff runs longer than a standard beaded cuff — about 12 in (305 mm) — so it reaches over the wrist and onto the forearm. That keeps splash, wash water and chemical run-off from tracking down the arm. Tuck it over a sleeve to shed liquid, or under a sleeve to seal it out.
What is the difference between the orange and the blue 8.5 mil?
Both are 8.5 mil. This blue extended-cuff version has a longer cuff that covers the forearm against splash and run-off, with a textured grip. The 8.5 mil orange heavy-duty trades the extended cuff for an aggressive diamond grip and high-visibility color with a standard cuff.
Can I use these for food handling?
These are specified as industrial, heavy-duty gloves. If food contact is the requirement, use a TruGlove product carrying the Food Safe designation, such as the 4 mil blue nitrile, the vinyl range or the TPE food-service glove.
What chemicals do they resist?
At 8.5 mil this is the most chemical- and puncture-resistant disposable in the line, handling oils, greases, fuels, many solvents and shop chemistry for incidental splash contact. It is still not a substitute for a rated chemical-resistant glove during extended immersion — contact us with your chemistry and we will confirm suitability.
What is the minimum order?
Pricing starts at case quantity — 500 gloves (10 boxes of 50; extended-cuff gloves pack fewer per box). Volume, pallet and standing-order pricing is quoted on request.
Do you private label?
Yes. We supply custom colors, thicknesses, cuff lengths and your own box art for volume buyers. Include the details in your quote request.
