Where 4 mil sits

Pick the gauge, not the guess

Thickness is the single decision that drives cost, dexterity and how long a glove survives the task. Here is the full TruGlove range — tap any gauge to compare.

Built for the work

The lightest, most economical black nitrile

01

Highest dexterity

The thinnest black nitrile we stock. Fine-motor feel for light assembly, diagnostics and detail work where a heavier gauge just gets in the way.

02

Nitrile barrier, less bulk

Full synthetic-nitrile oil and puncture resistance in a slim 4 mil film — more barrier than vinyl, more feel than a 5.5.

03

Powder-free, latex-free

No cornstarch residue on finished surfaces and no natural rubber proteins — safe to standardize across a mixed crew.

04

Lowest cost per box

The most economical way into nitrile — the entry gauge for high-turnover, light-duty work where gloves change constantly but you still want a latex-free synthetic barrier. Black hides grease and shop grime, too.

Product detail

Nitrile protection with exam-glove feel

When the job needs a real synthetic barrier but not a heavy one, the 4 mil is the answer. It is the entry gauge of the black nitrile line — oil-resistant, latex-free and puncture-resistant like its thicker siblings, but slim enough to keep exam-glove dexterity for light assembly, diagnostics and detail work. It is the most economical nitrile in the range and the natural step up from a vinyl glove when the task calls for more.

It is a fully synthetic nitrile film, so there is no natural rubber latex and no Type I allergy exposure across your workforce. Powder-free means no cornstarch transferring onto paint, glass, tooling or a customer's interior trim. The smooth finish keeps tactility high, and the ambidextrous, beaded-cuff construction dons fast from a 100-count dispenser box and rolls off cleanly at the wrist.

Where it performs

Light assembly and electronics, automotive detailing and light service, parts handling, janitorial and sanitation, painting prep and high-turnover general work all run on this gauge. It handles common shop chemistry — degreasers, cutting fluids, adhesives, dyes and diluted sanitizers — for the short-duration, incidental splash contact that makes up most real-world glove use.

When the job turns to heavier shop abuse, fasteners or sharp edges, step up to the 5.5 mil, 6.5 mil or 8.5 mil heavy-duty nitrile. If food contact is the requirement, choose a Food Safe product such as the 4 mil blue nitrile or the vinyl range.

Questions

Before you order

How thick is a 4 mil nitrile glove, really?
A mil is one thousandth of an inch, so 4 mil is roughly 0.10 mm at the palm — the same gauge as a standard exam glove, and the thinnest in the black industrial line. It is the high-dexterity, lowest-cost option; step up to 5.5 mil or more when the work gets heavier.
Should I choose 4 or 5.5 mil?
Choose the 4 mil for light-duty, high-turnover work where dexterity and lowest cost per box matter most. Step up to the 5.5 mil for everyday shop and MRO durability, or the 6.5 mil for sharp edges and higher tear risk.
Can I use these for food handling?
These are specified as industrial grade. If food contact is the requirement, use a TruGlove product carrying the Food Safe designation — the 4 mil blue nitrile, the vinyl range or the TPE food-service glove.
Are they suitable for medical or exam use?
No. This SKU family is industrial grade and is not marketed for patient care. For exam-grade protection, see the 4 mil blue nitrile or the powder-free latex line.
What chemicals do they resist?
Nitrile handles oils, greases, fuels, many solvents and common shop chemistry well for incidental splash contact. It is not a substitute for a rated chemical-resistant glove during extended immersion. Contact us with your specific chemistry and we will confirm suitability.
What is the minimum order?
Pricing starts at case quantity — 1,000 gloves (10 boxes of 100). Volume, pallet and standing-order pricing is quoted on request.
Do you private label?
Yes. We supply custom colors, thicknesses, cuff lengths and your own box art for volume buyers. Include the details in your quote request.
